The walking-only part of Nan Jing East Road starts from its one end, the intersect to Middle Xi Zang Road(西藏中路), to its intersect to Middle He Nan Road(河南中路). this intersect is already close to the Bund. Just walk for a while, at the other end of East Nan Jing Road(南京东路), the Bund is waiting for you.

There are a lot of department stores on this road. Some of them have a long history. Four of them had already been very famous in 1920s and 1930s. They were:
Da Xin Department Store(大新公司), now Shanghai NO.1 Department Store.
Yong An Department Store(永安公司), it was then called Hua Lian Department Store(华联商厦) for a few decades before 2004, now it is called Yong An Department Store again(永安百货).
Xian Shi Department Store(先施公司), Now Shanghai Fashion Department Store(上海时装公司).
Xin Xin Department Store(新新公司), now Shanghai NO.1 Food Department Store(第一食品商店).
