The Bund
外滩

The Bund has been the symbol of Shanghai for more than a hundred years. The Bund is on the East First Zhong Shan Road(中山东一路). It is about one and a half kilometers long. To the east of the Bund is the Huang Pu River(黄浦江). To the west of the Bund are 52 buildings of various European styles, including Gothic, Romanesque, Baroque, etc. These buildings are the essence of the Bund and the reason why it is so famous.

East Nan Jing Road
南京东路

East Nan Jing Road had been a road famous for shopping almost 100 years ago. In 1999, more than half of this road was redesigned for walking only, which made it a more comfortable place for shopping and tourism. It is almost always full of people whenever you go.

Xin Tian Di
新天地

A perfect place for dining, shopping, entertainment and nightlife if you can afford way above the average of Shanghai. There are a lot of restaurants and bars in this area. The buildings here are all Shanghai unique style -- Shi Ku Men(石库门).

Shanghai Old Street
上海老街

Shanghai Old Street is an important part of the Yu Garden tourism zone. It starts from South He Nan Road(河南南路), then leads into the Yu Yuan Mart(豫园商城), where you can go further into Yu Garden(豫园), Temple of the City Gods(城隍庙), etc.

Bin Jiang Avenue
滨江大道

The Bund is already very beautiful in the daytime. But its beauty goes to an extreme when the darkness comes and a lot of light is projected onto the buildings. Then the Bund looks not only beautiful but also mysterious. Such beauty is better to be viewed from a distance, and the Bin Jiang Avenue is the perfect spot.

Heng Shan Road
衡山路

Heng Shan Road is a popular for its French style and the bars. It is said that the first bar in Shanghai was opened on this street. It seems to have become a tradition of this street. Nowadays there are a lot of popular bars on this street, such as Bourbon Street, M-Box, M-Factory. They are popular among both locals and foreigners.

Duo Lun Road
多伦路

"Find the last 100 years of Shanghai history on Duo Lun Road" is a saying among local Shanghai people. Duo Lun Road is a very short and small road. The whole length is only 550 meters but it definitely takes a long time to walk the whole street. Duo Lun Road had been a famous road in the beginning of last century when China was seeing the greatest changes that had happened in the last two thousand years.

Huai Hai Road
淮海路

Huai Hai Road is a 6 kilometers long street located at the center of the urban area of Shanghai. It is divided into East, Middle and West Huai Hai Road. It is a famous street for shopping and entertainment since the beginning of the 20th century.

Qi Bao Old Street
七宝老街

Qi bao Old Street is located in Qi Bao, a town of a long history. Qi Bao is not far away from urban area of Shanghai. Actually it is close to Xu Jia Hui(徐家汇). Most of the original buildings in the town have been replaced with modern buildings. However, this whole street has been kept well and been a famous attraction of Qi Bao. The street is featured by the original looks of old towns around Shanghai several hundred years ago.

The Bund Tourist Tunnel
外滩人行观光隧道

The Bund Tourist Tunnel connects two best attractions of Shanghai: The Bund and Lu Jia Zui. The tunnel itself is like a light show. A small train will slowly take you to the other end of the tunnel. Along the road, you will see some dazzling and sparkling lights of different colors. A fun way to cross the Huang Pu River!

Garden Bridge
外白渡桥

This bridge sits above the the Su Zhou River(苏州河) and is very close to where the Su Zhou River(苏州河) joins the Huang Pu River(黄浦江). It is a full metal bridge of 106 meters long.
This bridge used to be a symbol of Shanghai. The history of it is why it is famous and is an attraction.

Century Square
世纪广场

Century Square is the biggest square in Shanghai. It is right next to the Century Park. Walking in the square, you will find a lot of elements here carrying some sense of art: pillars, ponds, bridges, sculptures. On weekends, a lot of people would choose this sqaure to get away from the busy city life. Some would fly kites here. Some would skate here. And some just come to enjoy the view.
