Shanghainese
Do not assume that all the Chinese you hear in Shanghai are Mandarin(普通话). Most local Shanghainese often speak Shanghai Dialect, which is also usually called Shanghainese(上海话). It is a dialect that most Chinese of other areas could not understand! Learn more about Shanghainese.
