You probably have heard of the famous, or maybe "notorious", Xiang Yang Road Market(襄阳路市场), which had almost been a must-go attraction of Shanghai before it was shut down in 2006. It was located near Middle Huai Hai Road(淮海中路). So they can be combined into a premium shopping tour. Everyday, thousands of people went into this market. It was like always being very crowded. Unfortunately in June of 2006, it was shut down.

So where did the shops in Xiang Yang Road Market go? Of course there was not a nearby market the same large that they can easily move into. Some of them went to some already popular markets such as Qi Pu Road Market(七浦路市场) or Yu Yuan Mart(豫园商场). But more of them went to A.P Plaza (亚太盛汇休闲购物广场), a relatively new market with a lot of potential.

A.P Plaza (亚太盛汇休闲购物广场) has an advantage of very convenient access: right next to Shanghai Science and Technology Museum(上海科技馆) Station of Metro No.2. However, the easy access did not help it much in its early days. Compared with other markets like Yu Yuan Mart(豫园商场), it was almost like a no man's land here.

The shutting down of Xiang Yang Road Market brought great opportunities to this market in Pu Dong(浦东). More than 300 shops moved in, bringing a lot of goods and features of Xiang Yang Road market. With time passing by, more and more people come to buy clothes, bags and Chinese characteristic stuffs. A lot of people come to visit here are foreigners, which is an important feature of Xiang Yang Road Market. Some are now actually calling it "New Xiang Yang market".
