Inner Ring Road(内环线)

Inner Ring was the first main ring road built in Shanghai. It was desinged to contain the urban areas within the ring. Due to the complex layout of the roads in the urban areas, elevated road was used for most of the ring, except a small portion in Pu Dong(浦东). Yang Pu Bridge(杨浦大桥) and Nan Pu Bridge(南浦大桥), the first two bridges on Huang Pu River(黄浦江), connect the inner ring between Pu Xi(浦西) and Pu Dong(浦东).

The whole length of the inner ring is 47kilometers. There are four lanes, two for each direction and barred between. The maximum spred allowed on the inner ring is 80km/h, although in the peak hours the maximum speed might be 8km/h. o_o

The inner ring passes through or close to a lot of hot areas including Zhong Shan Park(中山公园), Hong Qiao(虹桥), Xu Jia Hui(徐家汇), Tang Qiao(塘桥), Century Park(世纪公园), Zhang Jiang Hi-tech Zone(张江高科技园区), Wu Jiao Chang(五角场).
